What is an Egress Window?2024-02-15T22:25:12+00:00

An egress window is an acceptable exit opening. It is required to have a minimum of 3.77 square feet of opening with 15 inches both ways. Awning windows do not meet egress requirements. Sliders and casement windows are egress eligible.

Where are egress windows required?

Egress windows are required in every bedroom on any floor and in basements with habitable space. If you are building a new home, the code requires that you put an egress window in each bedroom. It also requires an egress window in the basement if habitable rooms will be finished in the basement.

Built For the Real World!

We make products that have to survive summers so hot that  rattlesnakes seek refuge in the shade. Our winters are so cold that staying inside to binge Netflix just makes sense some days. And we at Prestige make a Canadian built product that can survive it all and look good while doing it.  That is the type of world we build products for.
